When I was 24, I sat in a doctor’s office and he told me I was going blind.
At first, I didn’t know how to cope. My world shrank physically, emotionally, and socially. I lost confidence, direction, and for a while, myself. Exercise became my lifeline. It gave me energy when I felt stuck, hope when everything felt uncertain, and the courage to keep showing up for my life.
Since then, I’ve had so many adventures (including becoming a nationally competing para-athlete, walking a Camino across Spain, Cross-country skiing in Utah and climbing Mt Kosciusko).
I have taught in a remote community, become a passionate advocate for people living with disability, spoken on national stages, and raised two incredible kids, all while navigating vision loss.
What I’ve learned? You don’t need perfect circumstances to live a bold, beautiful life. You just need to own your story and believe that ‘different is not less’. And people with disabilities are no ‘less’ than anyone else, we just do things ‘differently’.
I talk about resilience, identity, and what it means to show up even when life doesn’t look how you expected. Audiences leave feeling inspired, seen, and ready to try something new.
